While practical application of most of the arts lessons are a part of internship, writing reviews of art work is the primary task that you may have to carry forward in your lessons, exams or coursework.
Writing a review of an art piece is a challenging, nonetheless exciting experience. We all have personal opinions about products we use, movies we watch and books we read. Sharing one’s experience, backing it up with convincing and innovative views makes for a review that helps non users evaluate and appreciate.
Writing a movie review is no different form any other product review, where the features peculiar to the genre and the content are elaborated and analyzed from the readers/ viewers or user’s experience. Here are some quick steps to help you write an outstanding movie review and score well in your art coursework.
Step 1
Always mention the details of the film you are reviewing. This aids the reader locating the reviewed product. So gather the following details to mention in the review: Title, Genre, Director, Screenwriter, Producer, Year of release, music, actors.
Step 2
Do some research before watching the movie. This will aid you in understanding the inherent allusions, implications, themes, myths and other details used by the director to drive the point home. Look for teasers and trailer of the movie and keep a mental record of your impressions of and expectations from the film.
Step 3
Watch the movie keeping note of details. However it is also important to enjoy the movie without caring much about getting answers to all your questions.

Record your impressions by carefully organizing details and information: Plot, historical, sociological, geographical placement, genre, characters and their development, themes and motifs, music, choreography et al.
Step 5
When writing a movie review, you may choose to take a perspective and build a thesis statement around your opinion. If you think the movie is worth watching for its script and direction, highlight the key features in the movie that makes it good.
Step 6
If a movie is book adaptation, a sequel or a remake, compare it with the original, backing your opinions with valid points. You may also choose to compare movies on similar themes, or movies form the same director, or movies that were released during the same time.

When writing a review for your art coursework, it is important to bring forth features that are technical and creative. Your review should critically evaluate a work of art rather than simply state an experience of watching a recent flick.
