Alternate Sentence Openings
Using the same words for opening a sentence makes reading very boring. It is thus good to alternate sentence opening with varied parts of speech. You may use gerunds, articles, determiners, prepositions, pronouns and alternate between them frequently. For Instance, the sentence below can be written in number of ways:
It was a sheer coincidence that we got the same gift for each other last Christmas.
Possible Alterations:
1. Coincidently, we got the same gift for each other last Christmas.
2. Last Christmas we coincidently got the same gift for each other.
3. In an amazing coincidence, we both ended up getting the same Christmas gift for each other last year.
4. When we met each other last Christmas, we realized that coincidently we had got the same gift for each other.
